Smart turnstiles for river electric trams in Moscow

Moscow continues to prepare the necessary infrastructure for the future regular river transport - electric river trams. Four berths are already on the water and are being glazed and commissioned.

A new turnstiles design has been developed for electric river buses, they will start working at the berths after the test.

The new turnstiles:

  • are shorter and thinner than their metro comparables to ensure an easier pass with bags;
  • allow fare payment via the Troika card, a bank card, and Face Pay — all payment methods are available;
  • offer a bright color background and a large font — adapted for the visually impaired;
  • show the ticket's status — you always know how many trips are left.
"Regular river transportation in Moscow has been undeservedly forgotten over the past few decades. The Mayor of Moscow has taken a decision to revive this service and transfer it to the category of regular urban transport. To this end, the Moscow Government held a tender for purchasing 21 electric vessels and 23 berths that will provide regular year-round transportation. River vessels will run to timetable with small intervals during rush hours. They will improve transport links for those Moscow residents who are separated by the river from metro stations, MCC, so that they can more conveniently approach urban transport," - said Head of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the City of Moscow Maxim Liksutov.
